A tragic train derailment in the southern state of Oaxaca has claimed the lives of at least 13 people, an incident sure to fuel critical opposition regarding the pace and management of the country's flagship government projects.
The crash took place on the trans-isthmus railway, a rail link constructed to join the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean across the narrowest part of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. “We will rigorously clarify the reasons behind this tragedy,” stated the national leader.
The leader confirmed that, of the around 250 individuals on board, another 98 were wounded, with five of those in serious condition. The leader added plans to visit Oaxaca to speak with those involved.
